The Photographer behind MaryAnne's Photography

I'm the girl behind the camera! Chances are if you've visited my website, you already know about me! So I won't make you spend a lot of your time re-reading about my story. If you'd like a refresher, feel free to visit my "about" page on my website!

So that's enough about me ;) Let's start talking about your upcoming session!

Arrival Information:

Please plan to arrive about 5 minutes before your scheduled time so we can begin right on time. Because multiple families are booked back-to-back, sessions unfortunately cannot be extended if you arrive late.

If you happen to arrive early, feel free to relax nearby until your session time. I’ll be ready for you as soon as your slot begins!

What to Expect:

Mini sessions are short and sweet! Each family will have a brief time slot, so sessions will move quickly to make sure everyone gets their turn.

When you arrive, I’ll guide your child through a few natural poses and prompts. My goal is to capture genuine smiles and a little bit of personality along the way. We’ll keep things lighthearted and fun, so your child feels comfortable and relaxed!

If parents would like to hop in for a quick photo, we can absolutely make that happen as well!

The Location:

Our mini session will be held in the field of this property location. When you arrive, you will see my gray Toyota SUV parked out beside the road (at the Cumbie/Judge Logue crossroads, and you are welcome to park in the same general area! I will have refreshments and a little goodie bag for you and the kids while you wait for your session to begin!

There are not restrooms directly in this field, however there is a red barn adjacent to the field at this address if restrooms are needed: 3760 Judge Logue Road Newton, AL 36352.

This barn may be accessed through a field road that takes you around back to large sliding doors, straight after those you'll go through a couple of Dutch doors, and on your left and right you will see men's and women's restrooms labeled "Cowboy" and "Cowgirl". If you'd like me to explain this better in person, I will be more than happy to :)

What to Wear

Below are some things that I recommend doing or avoiding when it comes to styling for your upcoming session. You're always free to text me if you want specific pointers and help picking out outfits of course!

(334) 350-0293

What to do:

Choose Neutral, Soft Tones

Creams, tans, muted earth tones, or soft colors in general make for beautiful complimentary outfits.

Prioritize Comfort and Movement

Anything flowy photographs so beautifully. For women I always recommend long flowy dresses, and for men I always recommend something semi-casual that feels comfortable and compliments their partner. Comfort is key! If you're having to tug and pull at an outfit to feel comfortable, it may be best to find an alternative.

Coordinate, not Match

When dressing multiple people; aim for harmony over identical matching outfits.

What to Avoid:

Neon Colors

Neon or bright colors can translate harshly in-camera. The bright colors reflect onto the subject's face and can make their skin tone look unnatural.

Small Patterns

Small patterns can look busy in photos, so it is usually recommended to avoid them. A good general rule of thumb is if the print is smaller than a quarter, it may be best to find an alternative.

Graphic Tees

It's great to show your personality in photos! However, during our session I would recommend sticking to the basics and avoid any bold t-shirts that may be distracting.

Wrinkled Clothing

Steaming or ironing your clothes before your photos is always recommended! In some photos, deep wrinkles may be more noticeable than in day-to-day life.

Below are some favorite outfits of mine that clients have worn to their sessions!

I will also link my Pinterest board with some additional visual ideas to help with picking an outfit!
